Store Planner

SUMMARY

To understand the requirements of Merchandising and Retail Operations and creatively translate this information through store design and the development of fixture plans, criteria plans and specifications which serve as the basis for developing construction documents and fixturing of supermarkets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide retail space planning and present store design for new stores, expansion remodels, reformats, and miscellaneous small projects. Designs will be based on preliminary scope of works, established programs and brand criteria. Design and produce store fixture plans that incorporate Retail (Marketing, Merchandising and Store Operations) directives and comply with the proforma assumptions as communicated by the Director of Design and the Vice President of Engineering and Construction. Serve as a liaison between Retail and Design in coordinating information, setting up review meetings and resolving issues. Extensive interdepartmental communications to obtain and verify requirements of Merchandising Specialists, Retail Operations, Safety and Security, and others as required. Coordinate the development of related documents including custom millwork drawings, equipment plan, merchandising plan, interior signage plan and project phasing plans. Visit stores, meet with Store Operations and review equipment specifications to establish workflow patterns and equipment requirements for store department layouts. Review construction documents and inspect construction in progress to ensure compliance with design intent. Develop and design custom millwork. Coordinate with Equipment Coordinator all equipment required for each project. Develop thorough understanding of codes and their effect on the layout and space planning of retail supermarkets. Provide assistance with ergonomic assessments. Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

3 years’ experience minimum specifically related retail store planning in a CADD integrated environment. Strong interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills. Retail operations and/or merchandising knowledge helpful. AutoCAD and/or Revit experience required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

2 year Associate Degree in architecture or architectural engineering minimum. 4 year degree preferred.
