SUMMARY

Responsible for monitoring and influencing the work environment for assigned area of stores (30 – 35 stores). Ensures the continuing evolving of culture and bringing the brand to life through teammate hiring, training, development and engagement. Reinforces the contemporized culture of contribution that connects Teammates with the Brand, drives the desired customer experience, and delivers business results through the further implementation of a talent focused mission. Oversees all Teammate Relations functions for assigned area. Partners with Operations management to achieve proper staffing, training and retention of engaged workforce. Oversees high potential training programs within their assigned areas. Personally conducts leadership training as needed. Responsible for execution of all corporate talent culture and communication programs. Supervises zone level HR Managers to further ensure proper managing of HR systems, processes and programs. Maintains overall compliance for required training modules, I-9 errors and OSHA monitoring. Initiates activities related to teammate engagement within assigned area.  Acts as an advocate for teammates.  Connects as a business partner to management providing council on compensation, teammate relations, performance management, policy and other HR related activities. Partners with Operations to manage the annual Performance Evaluation process.
Oversees and collaborates with legal any EEOC investigations and claims. Works with in-house legal team on monitoring and making recommendations regarding compliance with federal, state, local, and other employment regulations. Teams up with Operations leadership to solve business problems. Advises managers and supervisors regarding laws governing all aspects of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.  Ensures that teammate issues are identified and resolved quickly with Store Management and Supervisory input.

Ensures the consistent application of HR policies, processes and systems within the groups they support, while maintaining knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws, and issues.

Be an active participant in business decisions that affect employees and effectively communicate to business leaders.

Manage store level Staffing and Development Professionals as assigned.  Mentor and train less senior HR Specialists.

Partners with Operations to manage the annual Performance Evaluation process.

Build a partnership with managers to effectively coach on policies, performance management, hiring practices, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.

Oversee teammate grievance processes with the Staffing and Development Professionals and assist in implementing decisions for assigned area: Addressing Concerns Together (ACT) for challenging discipline and chain of command process for challenging Performance Evaluations.

Create and analyze data to identify trends and present recommendations to resolve issues and identified concerns.

Ensure appropriate follow through on all matters requiring investigation at store level and completing any follow through needed at a corporate level. 

Coaches Managers to enhance leadership abilities, relationships among teams/individuals, interpersonal communications and performance.

Acts as a liaison between teammates and other areas of the company. 

Handles all EEOC investigations and claims.

Works to propose new staffing/structure ideas to be more efficient and save costs.

Partner with Operational Development function to effectively implement talent programs.

Manage compensation related inquires by evaluating pay rate decisions based on a review of incumbents and relative pay equity for all ATL’s and TL’s.

Monitor labor union activity and conducts TIPS training along with training new managers as needed.

Enables other leaders within the organization to identify, nurture, develop, and support development of leadership skills and future leaders while supporting the company’s diversity goals.

Work closely with in-house legal team on monitoring and making recommendations regarding compliance with federal, state, local, and other employment regulations.

Demonstrates an understanding of business operations and systems, processes, departments and functions to analyze the company’s organizational design and to provide ongoing direction and best practices for managing a complex and creative business organization. 

Display a high degree of professionalism, poise and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive employee issues.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Satisfactory performance reviews.
Valid driver’s license.  
At least 21 years of age.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing. 
Excellent problem solving skills. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree (business or related field) – Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5+ years of related experience.
PHR Certification preferred
