SUMMARY
Pay Ranges $16.00 - $19.00/hr. - interns.

All work performed will be under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain practical experience in how to meet the needs of patients and pharmacy business. Assists the pharmacist in all professional tasks related to preparation of prescriptions with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency. Assists the pharmacist with inventory management. Counsels patients and takes prescriptions over the phone from prescribers. Provides excellent customer service including prescription intake, communicating on the telephone, assisting our customers and counseling patients in a confidential manner. Participates in all corporate programs and initiatives as requested. Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper and Market 32 customers. Understands the most up to date ACIP immunization schedule and makes appropriate immunization recommendations in accordance with state law. Assists with required immunization counseling, paperwork, and documentation. Completes assigned Medication Therapy Management interventions including patient outreach, documentation, counseling, and billing. Licensed Pharmacy Interns that have completed the APhA immunization certificate training and satisfied all State and Price Chopper requirements to immunize, may administer immunizations to adults under the direct supervision and consent of a licensed pharmacist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all state and federal regulations related to the practice of pharmacy
Complies with all company policies and procedures
Counsels patients in the use of medications in a confidential manner
Receives new prescriptions via phone; interprets written prescriptions from prescribers
Obtains information for new prescriptions including, but not limited to: name, address, date of birth, insurance information, allergies and current phone number
Processes prescriptions accurately including entering prescription details, dispensing, partial fills and managing medications that need to be ordered (fill on arrivals)
Develops a knowledge of the inventory control system and inventory levels, including ordering, adjustments, outdates and returns to vendors
Works to ensure optimal workflow, prioritizes wait times, communicates with patient appropriately when issues arise with filling a prescription
Assists in determining third party plan eligibility; contacts insurance companies and confers with patients to resolve billing issues and performs appropriate procedures when the medication is not picked up
Ensures all medications are dispensed at POS (point of sale) to the correct patient, including checking date of birth for Every Patient, Every Time
Develops an understanding and proficiency of company standards of practice
Responds to questions about medications, OTCs, and supplements after consulting the pharmacist
Participates in business development activities revolving around pharmacy programs
Provides health screenings, such as blood pressures
Maintains a neat, clean and organized workstation including appearance of the pharmacy, signage, vacuum, empty trash, etc.
Stays up to date on the ACIP immunization recommendations and individual state laws as they relate to immunizations
If requirements are met and approved by Supervising Pharmacist and Pharmacy Specialist, administers immunizations under direct supervision and consent of licensed Pharmacist
Assists with required immunization counseling, paperwork, and documentation including Provider communication and state registry notification if applicable
Completes assigned Medication Therapy Management interventions including patient outreach, documentation, counseling, and billing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Friendly, helpful and outstanding attitude and superior customer service skills
- Exercises good judgement

- Effective communications; verbal and written
- Professional communication skill with the Pharmacy Team and patients
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to pharmacy
- Knowledge of common insurance plans and billing procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must successfully complete first professional year of pharmacy study
- Preferable to have been a pharmacy teammate for minimum of 6 months.
- State licensed pharmacy intern permit where applicable
- 1 year previous experience in a community pharmacy preferred

The disclosed compensation range for this position is applicable within the state the position resides. The actual base pay offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The compensation range is one component of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Northeast Shared Services’ total compensation and benefits package, which includes, 401(k), 401(k) match, paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and more.
